## POST /api/v2/vps/{id}/backups

**Create VPS backup**

Queue a manual offsite VPS backup. Get `{id}` from `GET /api/v2/vps` `data[].id` and check `GET /api/v2/vps/{id}/backups` `actions.canCreateBackup` before calling. Backups are for durable/offsite, longer-term recovery and can take longer to create than local snapshots. Use snapshots for short-lived block-on-write rollback before quick changes. The request body is optional; omit it or send only a note. Do not send suspend/stop backup modes for public integrations. The response is an operation envelope that should be polled through `/api/jobs/{jobId}`.
